What uneven temperatures between spaces could mean

If some rooms are warmer or cooler than others (depending on the season), it’s an indication that your HVAC system is experiencing problems. Another problem indicator is that your utility bill has noticeably increased.

Duck-Work Issue. Your air ducts may need repair. If they are more than 15 years told, repairs aren’t going to be the best long-term solution and replacements should be considered. When you have leaky or degraded ductwork, your HVAC system has to work even harder to produce the conditions you want. Which means more energy is required, which in turns means your utility bill will start to climb. From the perspective of your and your family’s health, leaky ducts also degrade air quality by introducing more dust and allergens into your indoor environment (your ductwork is what circulates the air in your home). Talk to us about conducting a standard “duct blower test”, which is typically used to determine if your duct work needs repair or replacing. Note: Customized Climate Inc. does not conduct blower tests as this is typically done by a independent contractors. We are happy to provide references to you.

Heat Pump Issue. Your heat pump compressor is what pumps heat throughout your indoor spaces. It’s entirely possible that your outside unit’s fan is still working, but your heat pump is not. Heat pumps move heat from one area to another, evenly distributing heat into your space (during cold seasons) and out of your space (during warm seasons). If you notice temperature variations, you may need to check your heat pump. A basic, single zone ductless heat pump ranges from $3,500-$5,500 depending on the size of the unit.
